Read more...When most people think of glamping, they picture warm summer evenings under starlit skies. But here’s a secret that experienced glampers know: the extended season from early April through early October offers an incredible diversity of experiences. At Great Farm, we’ve designed our seven-month season, weather depending, to capture nature’s most spectacular transformations, ensuring every visit feels uniquely magical.
Spring at Great Farm is nature’s grand reopening ceremony. As we welcome guests back after the winter months, the countryside bursts into life around you. Step out of your accommodation to discover carpets of wildflowers painting the meadows in vibrant purples, yellows, and whites. The air carries the fresh scent of new growth, while dawn choruses of returning birds create nature’s own symphony.
April and May offer perfect hiking weather – warm enough to be comfortable, yet cool enough for energetic exploration. Photography enthusiasts will find endless inspiration in blooming hedgerows and young lambs frolicking in the fields. The lengthening days mean more time to discover hidden corners of the countryside, while evenings remain pleasantly cool for gathering around the fire pit.
In June and July, Great Farm hits its stride, and early summer delivers the quintessential glamping experience that most people dream about. Long, golden evenings stretch well past nine o’clock, giving you ample time for outdoor adventures and leisurely al fresco dining. This is the season for spontaneous barbecues, midnight stargazing sessions and morning walks through the river meadows. The abundant daylight hours mean you can pack more activities into each day – from farmers’ market visits to afternoon picnics in sun-dappled fields. Early summer also brings the joy of fresh, local produce hitting its stride, making every meal a celebration of British flavours.
August showcases Great Farm at its most abundant. The countryside reaches full maturity, with hedgerows heavy with berries and gardens overflowing with colour. This is harvest season, when local farms offer the freshest produce and the longest, warmest days create perfect conditions for every outdoor activity imaginable.
September brings a subtle shift that many consider the season’s sweet spot. The intense heat of midsummer gives way to comfortable warmth, making it ideal for active pursuits. School holidays end, meaning more peaceful surroundings for couples and adult groups seeking tranquillity.
Our season concludes with autumn’s spectacular show in early October with Great Farm offering some of the year’s most breath-taking scenery. As the landscape transforms into a masterpiece of warm golds, deep reds, and burnt oranges, there’s something deeply satisfying about watching leaves drift past your window while you’re cosy inside with a hot cup of tea.
This time brings perfect conditions for embracing hygge – those cosy moments that create lasting memories. Think afternoon walks through rustling leaves, followed by evenings spent reading by candlelight. The cooler weather makes hearty, warming meals even more appealing, and there’s nothing quite like the comfort of returning to your heated accommodation after a bracing countryside walk.
